Bangkok: Airplanes = Home

Bangkok: Airplanes = Home

In a private field in a neighborhood just east of Bangkok, three impoverished Thai families have been living in disused jet airplanes for nearly two years. The families, who collect and recycle garbage, earning a few dollars a day, cannot afford to rent homes, and prefer to stay in the planes. Littered around them are the remains of airplanes that include a Boeing 747, an aviation graveyard left to rust and decay.

For two years Getty Images photographer Taylor Weidman documented the families as they collected trash and lived among everything, from oxygen masks to discarded toys and scraps.
