Main focus of this ongoing project is documenting flatscapes (monotonous landscapes) to point out man-made surroundings such as billboards, road signs, pylons and construction sites lack identity. They don’t make a place special still they create a universal sense of place which looks similar all over the world like products on supermarket shelves. Variety of places disappears along with some cultures and the mass culture spreads around the world. The title of the project supports the idea that landscapes of our consumerist society are temporary and insignificant. Constantly everything is under construction.

Mert Acar, born in 1989 in Ankara. Graduated from Hacettepe University, Graphics (BFA) in 2012 and Gazi University, Painting (MFA) in 2017. Artist and research assistant based in Ankara.
